this is a very special one-off painting of two cousins in Turin who escaped Putin and service in the Russian army to claim asylum in Italy; their personal stories are extraordinary examples of the human will to live a free life at all costs. They will never be able to return to their homeland without certain prison or death.
one-off portraits are a steady element of my practice although I do not do them very often.
this canvas arrives un-stretched on a roll without a frame and will have to be put on a strainer by a professional framer
please excuse the lack of professional photography; this work went into storage as soon as it was dry.
